Kayaks and Ice Cream Cake

Today I am grateful for my family. They are always going out of their way to see each other and I love that I see my cousins that live in Paris at least once a year.
Yesterday I left around 5:45 AM and got in around 12PM. It wasn't a bad drive at all. I even drove through Manning and saw the crazy party that is going on for this Greene character.

Here are my cousins after we went kayaking in Georgetown:

Afterwards we went to dinner in Georgetown and now I am grateful for herb-crusted goat cheese. Yum.

I got to drive the cousins (oldest is 10 years younger than me) around all night which was fun. Kids can be kinda fun sometimes! My cousins are pretty fun to hang out with.

We came back and made an ice cream cake for Katie's 12th birthday:

I've fallen in love with fall

Realizing that I had been taking all of these great photos of the fun things I have gotten to do lately, and that I haven't stopped in too long to discuss how grateful I am for my life, I decided to do a quick update. Today, I am grateful for fall weather, seeing Noel's eyes light up when he watches glass blowing, and good friends who are always willing to be the "third wheel." Yesterday, Noel, Jade and I went to the Renaissance Festival outside of Annapolis, MD. I have not seen Noel so excited to be in company of so many (strange) people! So, we nerded out and walked around, drinking beer out of our handmade mugs and eating (them) turkey legs and (me) fried bread. It was a healthy sort of day. I think the best part of the day was watching Noel watch the glass blowing from the artisans at Art of Fire . Jade , being the awesome person she is, couldn't resist buying up BOTH of the pieces that we watched being made. Which brings me to Jade. I'm not sure I...

Beer, Bikes, and New Dresses

Today I am grateful for free time and beer. After a somewhat crazy day, and while looking forward to a sure to be crazy day tomorrow, I finally get to sit down and enjoy a nice beer while I write! This weekend was fun-filled, for sure. It began with Stephanie and I going to Good Dirt and making ceramic pots on the wheel. We were the class clowns, as we continued making fun of each other throughout the teacher's lessons. Oh well. We were having fun. I love the photo of the garage door to Good Dirt. It seemed beautiful to me. One of my pots will be bottom-less. But, ah, such is life. On a related note: My original subject was beer and pots...but I didn't want to get the stinky eye from anyone. Hahaha Jennifer and Stephanie After our romantic evening at Doc Cheys and then Good Dirt, Stephanie and I met up with Jennifer, and then Paige and Jason. After a drink, Stephanie, Jennifer and I decided to run down to Highwire. This is when the bottom fell out of the sky and ...

A poor guy

Today I am grateful to have a partner who puts up with the fact that he, sometimes, has to suffer because I don't have my mom to talk to.  I realized tonight that Noel suffers because I can't get on the phone and call my mom when I need to vent. When I have a stressful day at school and am frustrated, I can't call her up and tell her about my bad day, instead I have to unload it all onto him.  Even when it's not easy...he listens and responds.  Even when I can't see him at least 3 nights out of the week because I'm getting home at 9 p.m. every night...he still listens and responds.  I am grateful for how hard he works,  even when I don't deserve it.
